Google Search Console (GSC) is a free tool that helps you understand how your website appears in Google Search results. It provides insights into your website’s traffic, performance issues, and how Google ‘sees’ your site. Granting access to Garrett Digital allows us to utilize this valuable data to improve your site’s visibility and organic search performance. Prerequisites:
- You must already have your website’s Google Search Console (GSC) account set up. If you need help, here’s Google’s guide: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9128668?hl=en.
- You must be a verified owner of the GSC property to grant access to others.
Steps:
- Log in to Google Search Console: Go to https://search.google.com/search-console/ and sign in with your Google Account.
- Select the correct property:
- If you have multiple websites verified in GSC, select the correct one.
- Importantly, If you have a domain property (it will be noted with the word “Domain”), choose this for the most comprehensive access.
- Navigate to Settings: Click the gear icon on the left-hand sidebar to open the Settings menu.
- Access “Users and Permissions”: Click “Users and permissions” to view existing permissions.
- Add Garrett Digital: Click the blue “Add User” button in the top right corner.
- Enter email address: Enter the email address associated with Garrett Digital’s Google Account. (Check with them for the correct address if needed).
- Grant “Full” permissions: This level allows Garrett Digital to view comprehensive data and take most actions within your GSC account.
- Confirm: Click the “Add” button to finalize the process.
Additional Tips:
- Removing Access: You can revoke access for a user anytime by following similar steps and clicking “Remove” next to the desired user on the Users and Permissions page.
